FAQs About Decals
How do you ship?
To keep your costs down we ship U.S. Postal, usually within 3-5 days of your order. Most U.S. orders are $4.95 shipping.
Are these silk screened decals?
No. Unlike the "model" decals, silk screened on a clear background with water-activated adhesive, our decals are commercial grade decal vinyl with the color going all the way through the material. The decal back is coated with an industrial strength adhesive—the longer it's on the better it sticks.
Can I wax over the decals?
Yes, you can wax or put protectant over the decals. Although not necessary, a good clear wax or protectant would help protect the material and lengthen it's life span. Do not buff or use "cleaner" waxes since these may contain abrasives.
Can the decals be applied to my truck or car?
Yes, the decals will stick to just about any clean, smooth surface including paint and glass windows.
Do the decals in the set both face the same direction?
No, the sets are mirror images (where applicable) so both images can face the same direction on the canoe. (i.e. they both can face the front or they both can face the back)
Do you create custom decal designs?
We no longer do one-off custom designs. We will consider creating custom designs, but only for larger quantities.
How long will the decals last?
The decal color is all the way through the decal material. It's not silkscreened. The manufacturer of the decal material warranties the colorfastness for six years. The decal material is same as is used for outdoor signs, lettering, and graphics.
What are the decals made of?
The decals are made from a commercial grade vinyl specifically designed for outdoor graphics.
What will the decals stick to?
The decals will adhere to just about any clean, smooth surface—painted surfaces, fiberglass, aluminum, Kevlar, Royalex, gel coat, varnished wood, glass, etc. The material is made to withstand the elements and stick tight. Unfortunately we don't guarantee it to protect your canoe from rocks, you're supposed to stay away from those anyway!
Why does the PayPal Shopping Cart header say "The Design Department"?
The Design Department is the name of our parent company. Kanuyak and Kanuyak.com are simply the brand we use for our canoe and kayak decals.
